The main subject of the research paper, which I have not yet finished, is focused on the new and developing technology. A brief summary of what I have found and the argument I make in the paper is as follows. The technology for automating, i.e. removing the human element from, aircraft has been increasing in reliability and use over the past decade. There exist several arguments against this which center around the idea that the technology is not yet advanced enough for us to rely on computers alone when human lives may be at risk. The counter argument is that humans have several qualities that make technology a preferable pilot. It is clear that the future will in more and more automation in the aviation field, but we currently sit in a gray area in which we don't know how much automation is safe.
